I am reading the 1 star reviews and they don't make sense to me. One of them says Fey switched stones. Sounds like exactly the opposite experience I had. Ed Fey showed me several stones and once I selected the one I wanted they wrote the inscription # and the characteristics (Color, Cut, Clarity) on the sales order. When I go to pick it up, we will compare the inscription # again. Why would they want to switch stones? Again, makes no sense to me.

BTW, many diamonds have a serial # inscription number on them. Whenever you take your diamond in to be cleaned or serviced in any way, ALWAYS have the inscription # read and write id down on both your and their repair ticket, and then when you pick up the stone look at the inscription through the microscope and COMPARE it again. This is the only way to ensure that you are getting YOUR stone back. The Forevermark stone I bought has a special type of inscription that can only be read by a Forevermark magnifier, so it's important to know if your stone has any proprietary characteristics. We will only be taking our ring to a Forevermark retailer for cleaning, etc., if needed, for that reason alone.

As for the other 1 star, the person is not happy with the way to get in/out of the parking lot. I've been to Fey at least 6 times now and have never had a problem, so not sure what the issue is. It might not have been obvious to the reviewer, but there are 2 exits out of the parking lot. The reviewer took the one facing East, when they probably should have taken the one facing North. If you want to go north, just exit out of the Ogden Ave side and turn right, then turn left at the light.

As for my experience, I can say that I received excellent service from Ed and Belinda. I've shopped at Fey at the original location and this was my first time shopping at the current location. Ed and Belinda really know diamonds.

I told them what I wanted: an excellent/ideal cut, something in the G-J color range, and something in the VS1 - SI2 Clarity. They carefully educated me on how they pick their stones. Then when they showed me the stones they explained how the specs I gave them only told half of the story and helped me pick out the best stone. Coincidentally the grading report confirmed the triple X quality I was looking for in the stone I picked.

After looking at about 25 excellent to very good stones in the 1.01 - 1.2 ct range at various jewelers I did find that the 3X Forevermark diamond was simply a spectacular value. Interestingly, Forevermark, owned by DeBeers, is not GIA graded; but self-graded by Forevermark. My observation was that the Forevermark grading was, possibly, more conservative than some of the other GIA stones I looked at. BTW, I used both a 10X triplet and 20X 5-lens loupe when looking at all the stones. I didn't look at anything less than 3X in Forevermark, so I can't say what their lower grade stones look like. I don't profess to have any expertise on diamonds, but I am really pleased with the service I got from Fey.
